CCL Weekly Update – 1/28/2022

I’m watching the sun rise…

As I write this note, on this frigid morning in late January, I’m watching the sun rise from the windows at the CCL office in the Lyme Center Academy Building.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like my “spirit” is squished a bit. Usually, I equate myself with energy and action and carrying on with a conscious life purpose. That’s been lagging a bit.

But being here, in this place, at this time, I feel fortunate that CCL has the privilege of using this building through the thoughtful arrangements made with the town’s keeper’s of property.  I can feel a bit of my inner spirit niggle a bit, showing interest in the beauty of the hill, the neighbors and the spirit that is within these walls.

Many, many people have walked these floors. Adults and children alike have been schooled here, attended dances, plays, shows, town-wide events..and those spirits echo in the stillness-joyfully and with appreciation.

And so, maybe my spirit just needs to remember the good times, appreciate the privilege of having them and I just need to listen for those echoes to find my energy and purpose again.

We can learn a lot from listening. We can appreciate more by hearing from the past. We can regain balance and peace on these cold winter days by being courageous and stirring up some action and animation. I think my spirit is saying we can do anything we set our hearts to do.

Wishing you warmth and good spirits forever.

With Love,  Patty

Covid Update

For up-to-date information on testing, vaccines, and more in New Hampshire, visit www.covid19.nh.gov.

Testing. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free.  Please use this link: https://www.covidtests.gov/

There are more sources of test kits all the time. If you have extra tests that you might like to share, please contact Lyme’s Emergency Management Director, Margaret Caudill-Slosberg, at lymeeoc@lymenh.gov or CCL by responding to this email or by calling 603-795-0603.

Vaccination. Overall, the best protection for the vast majority of us continues to be vaccination – either initial dose(s) or a booster, if you’re eligible. Seek your doctor’s advice if you have any questions about how the current recommendations affect you. At Vaccines.gov, you can search for vaccination locations and make an appointment. You can also schedule directly with retailers, such as Walmart and CVS. New sites and new practices are happening all the time. A little patience will go a long way!

Upcoming vaccination clinics:

Walk-in Clinics. Offered by State & Regional Public Health at the Old JC Penny Site – Rote 12A, near Kohl’s. Tuesdays during February from 9:30am – 2pm. Fridays during February from 12 noon – 6pm.  Bring personal identification and your vaccine card, and wear a mask. Boosters for those 6 months out from primary vaccine series, age 12 years and older. Clinic will vaccinate all eligible, 5 yrs and older. Moderna, Pfizer and J&J available.

Extending a Warm Upper Valley Welcome

In Lyme and across the Upper Valley, many organizations are working together to ease a very difficult transition in some wonderful families’ lives. Today a small Lyme and Upper Valley team will be meeting several Afghan men, some of whom we’ll be welcoming here as they look for work and more permanent homes. We’ll soon know a lot more about specific ways to help! If you would like to be involved, please contact Martha (martha.tecca@gmail.com, 603-795-0603). Donations to the CCL Welcome Fund support refugee resettlement across the Upper Valley and new Lyme families with urgent needs. Go to cclyme.org/donate or mail a check to CCL at PO Box 127 Lyme, NH. Please note that your donation is for the Welcome Fund.

We are here. Every Day. 603-795-0603 or help@cclyme.org.

Reach out when you or someone you care about needs a hand. If you could use information, help, a listening ear or ways to bring someone else joy, contact us at 603-795-0603 or help@CCLyme.org.  Our phone is answered every day, usually in person. Our welcoming living room in the Lyme Center Academy is a terrific place to relax, read, visit with friends, or meet with a CCL team member. It is now open often during the week and by appointment. Give us a call to confirm times. Be in touch, any time. You’ll reach a friendly voice, a little (or a lot of) help, and creative, safe ways to be involved.
