A Dartmouth Outing Club – Appalachian Trail Boundary work/training day will be held Saturday July 23. We’ll be rehabbing the northerly AT land boundary between Trescott Road and Hanover Center road in Hanover. If you can come, please confirm to <berniewaugh@gmail.com>, so I can bring enough equipment. Keeping boundaries painted and cleared, and relocating survey monuments is fun – like a treasure hunt. Plus it’s a key piece in caring for this priceless national resource.

DIRECTIONSWe’ll meet at 8:30 a.m. where the Appalachian Trail crosses Trescott Road in Hanover.  (On Google Maps search for “Trescott Road-AT Trailhead Parking”). I’ll bring paint, tools, maps, etc. You should bring water, lunch, and/or what you think you need for walking off-trail, plus clothes that don’t mind dirt. We should be done by 4 p.m.
Looking Ahead:  If you can’t join July 23, additional work days are scheduled for  Aug. 6th, Aug. 20th, Sept.17th, Oct. 8th, Oct. 22nd, and Nov. 5th. Mark your calendars!
Boundary Adopters Also Needed! Annual monitoring of sections of Appalachian Trail corridor boundary is done by folks who have “adopted” a particular section. An Adopter commits to walking the line once a year to check and report on its condition and see if there have been any trespasses.  If you’re interested in becoming an Adopter, please let me know – I will meet on your schedule to give you the scoop! OR… sign up for a work/training day to get a flavor for it.
