equipment, tell you about their preferences, and answer your questions.
Where: The Thetford Center Town Green
When: Saturday, May 21 from 10:00am-1:00pm
The Thetford, Norwich, Hartford, and Sharon Energy Committees and
Sustainable Hanover are working together on this event. We share goals to
encourage electrification of lawn maintenance and reduction of mowed lawn
areas to lower the climate impact of lawns.
Gas-powered lawn and yard care equipment is a significant contributor to
Greenhouse Gas emissions and other pollutants. About 54 million Americans
mow their lawns, using 800 million gallons of gas per year, producing tons
of air pollutants. According to the EPA, each new gas-powered lawn mower
operating for one hour produces as much organic compounds and nitrogen
oxide emissions as 11 new cars each being driven for 1 hour. Additionally,
over 17 million gallons of gas are spilled each year refueling lawn and
garden equipment – more oil than was spilled by the Exxon Valdez.
Come learn about the electric alternatives to gas-powered lawn care
equipment!
