Fairlee Community Arts’s free “COVID CONCERTS” — Every Friday Evening in May at 7 PM

With in-person events impractical at this time, a generous contribution from an anonymous donor is making it possible for Fairlee Community Arts to bring some of the area’s favorite musicians into your homes while also providing these artists with some much needed income.

Every Friday evening in May, from 7:00 to 7:30 PM, visit https://www.fairleearts.org and tune in for a live-streamed concert that will lift your spirits and keep you in touch with the local music scene.

AND, on Saturday May 9, you can join your neighbors in creating an original song about your special town under the guidance of Vermont singer/songwriter Jon Gailmor. Details and a link to join this virtual experience will be posted on the FCA website, https://www.fairleearts.org

STREAMED CONCERT SCHEDULE:

May 1st at 7:00 PM:  Discover SARA GRACE, among central Vermont’s best-kept secrets. Honest, emotive, and blessed with a sly, biting wit, her percussive guitar style and funky arrangements, along with a charismatic stage presence and soulful vocal delivery make SARA GRACE a force to be reckoned with.

May 8th at 7:00 PM:  PATRICK ROSS – This Vermont-born, fifth-generation fiddle player won the Vermont State Fiddle Championship at age fourteen. He has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and shared stages with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Paul McCartney. In 2012 he was invited to perform at both the Library of Congress’s Coolidge Auditorium and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. More recently, he has been working with Christopher Lloyd in a production of “Call of the Wild 3D” and assisted in scoring the film.

May 15th at 7:00 PM:  EMMA BACK – Vermont’s avant-folksinger/songwriter-violinist Emma Back uses a loop pedal to create lush layers of percussion and harmony. Her dynamic, multi-dimensional performance features vocal percussion, haunting melodic storytelling, jazz- and klezmer-inspired violin riffs and harmonic influences ranging from Eastern Europe to American Roots. “[Back’s] charming sensibilities, excellent structuring and arranging, as well as her ability to confound emotionally will likely bring listeners back for repeat encounters.” Jordan Adams, Seven Days VT).

May 22nd at 7:00 PM:  MATT SCOTT (Beard and Glasses Band) – With an emphasis on making every tune sound like an original, Scott’s “Beard and Glasses Band” is quickly becoming one of the premier acts in Southern Vermont today. Soulful, witty, and always from the heart. Check him out at fairleearts.org!

May 29th at 7:00 PM: PHIL HENRY is the real thing. He crafts contemporary folk songs so rich and sweeping you’ll wish you wrote them yourself. A formally trained musician, he builds strange, beautiful chords and a big acoustic sound. Phil is the winner of songwriter contests at SolarFest and Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival, and has showcased at Falcon Ridge and Kerrville.
