A Perfect Day for Lyme’s Day of Service!

On Saturday, May 7, 2022, over 140 people participated in Lyme’s annual Day of Service.Day of Service

We started the day with neighbors and volunteers at our Grab & Go Brunch at The Lyme School. Thanks so much to our Welcome Table hosts and refreshment providers! There was quite a buzz as everyone prepared for what proved to be a productive and fun day. The weather even cooperated!

Individuals, families, and local organizations were involved: 30 volunteers helped with all kinds of projects, and over 90 people greened up roads. And that doesn’t include teams at the Library, Lyme Historians’ museum, and other locations, cleaning and greening up beloved community spaces. Many volunteers worked on more than one project or road. Volunteers and the neighbors they helped all looked forward to the big day, with some volunteers visiting the same friends they had met during a previous year’s Day of Service.

By Saturday afternoon, nearly all Lyme roads were “Greened Up” and many neighborhood projects were completed. It was a lovely and uplifting day to experience the strength of community.

We offer special thanks to:

The organizing team of Sue Hanlon, Kathy McGowan, Lynn McRae, Shelby Wood and Stephanie Graudons, who did an incredible job!! If you see them, please congratulate them and thank them for sharing their love and energy to involve us all.

The Lyme Country Store for the delicious coffee and accompanying items.

The Lyme School for sharing the convenient and central location for the CCL Welcome Table, with information, materials, and much appreciated refreshments.

All of our Welcome Table volunteers and those who contributed food and drinks for the fabulous and free Grab & Go Brunch, enjoyed by dozens of volunteers and other friendly neighbors.

Stephanie Graudons for capturing photos that demonstrate the essence of what this community event is all about.
