Ripple Effects of COVID-19 for those in recovery

a personal message from Brittany Piper

I am sad and concerned about the ripple effect this virus is having on people.

COVID is the perfect storm for people in recovery, a disease that thrives on isolation. Whether they have ten minutes or ten years of sobriety, this pandemic is taking our people out, not because of the virus itself. As humans, our most basic needs consist of food, water, sleep, and connection. It is a scary time when the world is telling us not to hug or touch. Not even to be within six feet from each other- FEAR! There is so much fear. So much unknown. So much contradiction. Now is the time, a time like no other, to discover empathy. To be forgiving, kind, selfless, and reach out to someone you know struggles with depression, anxiety, or addiction. The fear that is a product of the virus comes out of people sideways- agitation, drama, hostility, and lack of respect.

PLEASE BE KIND. BE GENTLE TO EACH OTHER. AND REACH OUT TO SOMEONE!

THE FIRST PERSON THIS MAKES YOU THINK OF, REACH OUT TO THEM! TELL THEM YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT THEM. AND THAT YOU CARE HOW THEY ARE DOING!

Sending so much love, light, and positivity to all my brothers and sisters.

We are one!

Love, Brittany
