An outdoor hour of meditative prayer on the Thetford Hill Green.
The spiral of light is an Advent ritual begun in the Waldorf educational communities in the early 1950’s to pay homage to the season of darkness and the coming of Christ’s light into the world. In intentional silence, participants walk toward a glowing, Christ candle at the center of a spiral path made of evergreens. Arriving at the center, one kindles a taper from the lit candle, symbolically receiving the everlasting light in a time of darkness. As they turn to exit, participants place their taper along the spiral. Come to remember that a light shines in a dark world, which the darkness cannot overcome.
