An appreciation, after a special gathering

by Martha Tecca

It was a delight to host seventeen women at our home for a potluck celebration on “Galentine’s Day”. Everyone brought appetizers, sweets, or beverages, and several offered stories and inspirations. It was an evening of generosity and love, with neighbors from four towns discovering a fascinating set of connections that emerged throughout our time together. There were intimate small group moments and a full circle of appreciation for individuals who have made a difference in our lives. We lifted up the power and promise of story telling (more to come on that!), and we had some serious discussion about the importance of expanding broadband access. It was casual and beautiful; and we all look forward to more community get togethers where all are welcome. Stay tuned! You will be invited.

Some of the inspirations shared:

Beauty is not in the face. Beauty is a light in the heart. - Khalil Gibran

We celebrated the successful hiring and tremendous impact of an extraordinary female Air Force flight instructor by a team of men who knew that they needed her.

Kim Meredith, impressively in character, shared a snippet from a play she had performed last year. The 10-minute play, based on Olivia Hudson’s book, Dr. Tatiana’s Sex Advice to All Creation, was written is by Toni Egger with the author’s permission.

Each of us was gifted a pocket sized reminder:

Anything you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe in, enthusiastically act upon must eventually come to pass.

A “bonus” shared after the gathering, from the book The Ride of Her Life, by Elizabeth Letts:
“She would accept people’s hospitality, but only if freely given. She might have to ask but she wouldn’t beg. Annie had the graciousness to receive gifts, accompanied by a fierce determination not to be a burden.”

Enjoy a few photos from the evening below. (One of our photographers appreciated the food, it seems 😊.)
