Pianist and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser will be teaching a four-part
Zoom course on the life and music of Frederic Chopin on four consecutive
Wednesdays from Jan. 17 to Feb. 7 from 11:00 to 1:00. He will perform many
of the great piano works by Chopin—Ballades, Noctunes, Etudes,
Polonaises, Preludes etc—and also talk about his short but very eventful
life. He was friends with many musicians including Liszt and Schumann as
well as painters like Delacroix and writers like George Sand. His deeply
emotional and lyrical music still resonates today and his method of playing
the piano opened whole new worlds to future pianists to explore new shades
of colors through pedaling, phrasing, and rubato.
