Fitness & Nutrition Apps: Feel Your Best This Summer

By Shelby Wood, with contributions from CCL staff and community members

Despite the stormy weather, summer is officially here! If you’re looking to feel your best, there are loads of apps out there to help you. Whether you’d like help tracking your hikes or nutrition or taking live classes, there’s something for you! This list compiles input from CCL staff, Upper Valley community members, and reputable websites known for objectively reviewing technology.

Fitness and Wellness Apps Recommended by CCL staff and Community Members:

For tracking my exercise, I use Garmin Connect. It’s directly linked to my watch, so it tracks my heart rate, calories burned, and in case I get lost also uses GPS to help get me back on the right track. With this app for my watch, I can directly connect it to other fitness and wellness apps. When I want to track my nutritional intake and the amount of water I’m drinking, I use myfitnesspal. There’s a diary where you can track calories, nutrients, and water, add notes, and see your week in review. More features are available with a paid version. When I want a little encouragement while working out, I use the Peloton app. Live classes and pre-recorded classes are available in a variety workout formats. There’s even an outdoor (audio only) option for your walk. There are challenges you can sign up for throughout the month, and it tracks your workout achievements, which I find fun. I use Peloton Outdoor several times a week, and have been enjoying both strength and yoga classes too! – Shelby
