“Getting Started with Mindful Movement”

From resource: Mindful.org

There are many organizations that support individuals and communities either at a local or national level. Once per month, for Wellness Wednesday, we will share one of these well-respected organizations in order to connect you with more resources that support Health & Wellness.

If, like me, you find yourself losing motivation to exercise, mindful movement might be a helpful way to reconnect to the joy of movement through a shift in intention and focus. The introduction from the mindful.org resource introduces the following:

Riding a bike, lifting weights, sweating it out on a treadmill—each can be a mindfulness practice. Whatever the physical activity, instead of simply working out to master a skill or improve your condition, you can move and breathe in a way that shifts you from feeling busy and distracted to feeling strong and capable. – Mindful.org (Feb. 7, 2023).

As a resource and introduction to mindful movement, this site offers a lot of wonderful content to help orient you to the practice. From understanding what mindful movement is, to why and how to practice,  this site provides a useful overview and video examples to help you get started.
