Deer Hunting Season Safety

Submitted by Blake Allison to the Lyme Listserv 11/8/22

Good morning.

A reminder that the regular firearms season opens Wednesday and runs through December 4th. Here is a link to NH Fish and Game that has useful information regarding the state’s deer hunting season:

Remember, the Town Forest and Trout Pond Forest are open to hunting. Exercise extreme caution if you opt to hike in either location.

During hunting season, it is always a good idea to observe the following precautions if you choose to hike in the woods whether they are posted or not.

1) Leave an itinerary so people know where you plan to go.

2) Hike with a companion whenever possible.

3) Wear bright colors, preferably blaze orange, whether a vest, hat or scarf. Make sure any four-footed, furry companion coming along has a colorful article of clothing to wear too.

4) Be alert to the presence of other people in your proximity.

5) Take water along.
